Seeking Expressions of Interest for WORD2014 Projects

WORD2013 was our biggest and best yet and saw Islington residents working closely with some of our finest artists and arts organisations on more than 49 separate events and activities.  We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved.

Plans are developing for WORD2014.  We are now looking for Expressions of Interest from artists and arts organisations wishing to develop dynamic and innovative projects that will continue to help our residents discover the joy of reading and writing and promote freedom of expression.  As ever funding is limited so the maximum that we can contribute to any project is £5,000.

The theme for Word 2014 is, ‘Unheard Voices’.  We’re looking for ideas that will inspire and encourage  a broad cross- section of the community  to find their voices and actively participate in the festival.

Please do read the  guidelines and application forms carefully before submitting your EOI.  The deadline for submissions is 12 noon on 21st October 2013.

Oh Arsenal, Oh Arsenal

I love you with my heart

Although we win no trophies

You’re still No. 1 in my chart

Invincible season, how about that

We’re better than the rest, so Gooners give yourself a pat

Never been relegated from Division One

When the Gooners are playing, we’re always having fun!

Poetry and stories on the street …

photo-12AfterWORD…

28 June 2013: If you’re in the Finsbury Park area look out for some eye-catching Word2013 Festival Hoardings created by All Change working with Magpie Studio in collaboration with John Jones, the Park Theatre, City North N4 and the Business Design Centre Group.

Where are you going? features fragments of stories from local people, interviewed by playwright Sarah Rutherford and a team of actors as part of a theatrical project called N4 Stories. Sarah and her team spent six months talking to over 100 people in the N4 area, searching for stories that would inspire a play for the new Park Theatre. The resulting play, Allah in Neon, will be staged at Park Theatre in 2014.

hoarding1Frames of Mind, which is currently being installed features fragments of poetry created by local people of all ages as part of a series of creative projects – Transforming Buildings, In Between, Occupy Platform, B Voices and Outer Space with writers Paul Lyalls, Kenny Baraka, Kat Francois, Aoife Mannix and Yemisi Blake in 3-dimensional frames created and customised by John Jones.
