3pm – All Change’s Inspire! and ReCreate young parent projects invite you to Once Upon a Rhyme at Platform an original interactive story experience for young families created by young parents working with professional artists. Inspired by the wonderful work of Michael Rosen – Once Upon a Rhyme launches two brand new storybooks for children and features poetry, storytelling, animation and more!
Suitable for children – and grown ups – of all ages. Free admission and cupcakes!

Day 9: Words are Birds
Thursday 9 June 2016, 7pm Thornhill Primary School: All Change presents a fun night of poetry and rhymes for all the family with live performances by Word2016’s poet-in-residence Paul Lyalls, special guest poet – Adisa, and pupils from Thornhill Primary School.
This is a partnership between All Change and Thornhill Primary School as part of their Outer Space programme – a unique initiative, which sees artists working in collaboration with teachers and pupils throughout the year, investigating creative questions through arts activities.

Day 8: Poetry in Motion
Poet in Residence for the National Football Museum, Paul Cookson is leading a series of workshops for Islington primary schools. Inspired by the upcoming European Championships the audience will take part in a performance by the poet and then be encouraged to create and present their own work. Children’s work will be published by Islington Libraries using Bookleteer to enable the young people to see their work in print.

Day 7: Words of Wisdom
Running throughout June … A multitude of different local women’s voices – young and old, past and present – come together in this poetic artwork for the City North London N4 Hoardings, Wells Terrace N4 – to share pearls of wisdom and a wealth of experiences gathered across the decades created as part of Dispensing Wisdom – an arts and heritage project by All Change and Manor Gardens Centre.
Day 6: Park Players Reminiscence
Monday 6 June: Word2016 is proud to have commissioned a free theatre based course for people who are affected by dementia and their carers led by Park Theatre. Beginning in May, Park has delivered 10 weeks of one hour long workshops to explore: theatrical ideas, imagination, multi-sensory and other techniques for connection. The workshops enhance wellbeing, communication (including non-verbal), playfulness, collaboration and having fun. Followed by a hot or cold drink in the cafe, a chance to relax, chat and get to know the group, this course is designed for those who are affected by dementia and those who care for a person affected by dementia. On Tuesday 28 June 7pm and Thursday 30 June 8.30pm there will be free performances to celebrate awareness for the project – To book email learning@parktheatre.co.uk or call 020 7870 6876.

er the world of Shōjo Manga (girls’ comics in Japanese) in the UK’s first major exhibition of the genre, on tour in the UK. Japan’s shōjo manga culture dates back to the post-war years but only evolved into its broad-ranging and hugely-popular form of today as a result of the innovative work of a small group of artists in the 1970s. This exhibition explores the work of pioneering artists Keiko Takemiya, Yukiko Kai, and Akiko Hatsu through elaborate Genga'(Dash) prints.

Islington has 12 adventure playgrounds that have been around for almost 50 years. Researched and produced by Islington Play Association, this fascinating exhibition explores the heritage of local children and these play spaces, and highlights why adventure playgrounds are so important to them.
“It’s ours whatever they say!” further examines the significant role of local people’s community action in the development of these sites, especially mothers in their fight for children’s rights to play.
